Creating a platform for individuals to enhance their vocabulary during their free time.

HYPOTHESIS

Lets cut to the chase...

Jibber offers concise daily challenges that incorporate various learning activities tailored to the user's specific English proficiency level, fostering an effective learning platform. The integration of gamification and a reward system results in an enjoyable experience that promotes regular engagement.


Wordsets

Wordsets are the fundamental exercise of the learning platform, presenting users with words, descriptions, and other attributes to study.

To assist with memorisation, the user has to answer three questions related to the meaning and usage of the word.


Puzzles

A selection of quick fire puzzles create a diverse learning experience.

These include Wordsearch, Syno-search and Word Bounce.

The user can select between easy, medium and hard difficulty settings for each puzzle.


Daily tasks

To keep things interesting, the user is given a unique set of tasks every day, consisting of both puzzles and wordsets.

Users are motivated to stay engaged and celebrate their progress with the implementation of a streak counter.


Difficulty

During the onboarding process, the user's English level is evaluated and used to determine daily tasks that are suitable for their proficiency.

Users can continue to enhance their language skills beyond the daily tasks by accessing wordsets and puzzles that are available in multiple difficulty levels.


Awards

Engagement with the app unlocks awards to reinforce a sense of accomplishment for the user.

The user's profile page displays all of the awards they have collected, making it easy to keep track of their accomplishments.

While setting aside time each day for self-improvement is a great idea, the reality is that it can be difficult to achieve within a busy lifestyle.


If a person studies a subject for 15 minutes a day, in a year they will be an expert. In 5 years they will be a national expert”.


With so many demands on our time, it can be challenging to find a dedicated moment for self-improvement. However, there are numerous small pockets of time that can be utilised throughout the day, such as during a commute or waiting in a queue. We recognise the value of these moments and have designed a platform that aims to take advantage of them, providing users with a productive way to learn and grow.

Jibber's premium subscription provides users with unlimited access to the full catalog of wordsets, as well as an ad-free experience.

For unsubscribed users, a 30-second advertisement plays after completing each wordset or puzzle.

Data sourcing and development

To power its extensive word database, Jibber relies on Wiktionary, a free and open-source dictionary with over 7 million word entries that includes all the necessary fields for Jibber's platform. These include:

  • Word class
  • Pronunciation with audio
  • Definition
  • Synonyms
  • Usage examples
